What Is AFCC?

AFCC stands for the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, an interdisciplinary organization that brings together professionals from mental health, legal, and judicial fields who are dedicated to resolving family conflict. AFCC sets the gold standard for best practices in family court matters and offers guidance on how to support families in high-conflict situations.

What Does “AFCC-Informed” Mean?

As an AFCC-informed therapists, we integrate principles and training from AFCC into our work. This means we have a deep understanding of how the court system in Utah works when it comes to family law, and we're trained in working with children and families navigating separation, divorce, and custody disputes. We focus on helping children feel heard, supporting co-parenting relationships, and reducing the emotional toll that legal conflict can have on families.

Why Does This Matter for Utah Families?

In Utah, family court professionals—including judges, attorneys, and therapists—often collaborate to ensure the best outcomes for children. Being AFCC-informed allows us to communicate more effectively with other professionals involved in your case, advocate for your child’s emotional needs, and help parents make decisions that prioritize their child’s well-being.

Whether you're just beginning the divorce process or are years into a co-parenting arrangement, having an AFCC-informed therapist means you're working with someone who understands the system—and cares deeply about your family’s emotional health.
