Beehive Family Services works alongside attorneys, guardians ad litem, and the courts to support families navigating high-conflict custody disputes, reunification, and complex family situations. Our clinicians are AFCC-informed and experienced in parent coordination, reunification therapy, special master services and coparenting therapy across Salt Lake County.

We understand that the right referral at the right time can make a meaningful difference in a case. Below, you'll find an overview of our forensic and clinical services, guidance on which service may fit a given situation, and how to refer a client to our team.

Services

Parent Coordination

A neutral, court-appointed role that helps high-conflict co-parents resolve day-to-day disputes over parenting time, communication, and decision-making without returning to court for every disagreement. Ideal for cases with a history of repeated litigation over minor issues, where ongoing intervention can reduce conflict and court involvement.

Reunification /Family System Therapy

A structured, phased process to rebuild the relationship between a child and a parent following estrangement, high-conflict divorce, or a period of limited or supervised contact. This service is appropriate for cases involving reunification after abuse allegations, long absences, or parental estrangement factors, and typically involves close coordination with the court and other involved professionals.

Coparenting Therapy

Therapy for two parents, together, to improve communication and reduce conflict in their coparenting relationship. Unlike parent coordination, this is a therapeutic rather than a decision-making role, best suited for parents who are motivated to improve their working relationship but don't yet need a neutral third party to make binding decisions.

Family and Individual Counseling

Individual and family therapy for court-involved families navigating reunification, incarceration and reentry, child welfare involvement, high-conflict dynamics, or major life transitions. Useful as a referral alongside legal proceedings when a family needs therapeutic support beyond what the legal process itself addresses.

Special Master

A court-appointed role for resolving specific, ongoing disputes in high-conflict custody cases, allowing for faster decision-making than returning to court for every issue. Special Masters can be given authority by the court to make binding recommendations or decisions on defined matters, helping reduce delays and litigation costs.

What Sets Our Team Apart

Beehive Family Services combines clinical expertise with real experience in Utah's family court system. Our goal is to reduce conflict, minimize litigation, and lower costs for the families we work with. Our clinicians are AFCC-informed, with training specific to high-conflict and court-involved family work, and we communicate clearly and professionally in ways suited for legal proceedings. Barbara Ramos-Cryer, our Director of Forensic Services, serves as the main point of contact and coordinator for all court-involved cases. She holds both mental health and legal training, allowing her to bridge clinical and legal needs for the families and attorneys we work with. Our full team meets regularly to staff cases, ensuring consistent support throughout each case. With enough therapists to serve every family member and immediate openings, we're able to begin working with referred families quickly.

Referral Process

Reach out — Call, email, or use the contact form below with a brief description of the case and which service you're considering. If services are court-ordered we will need a copy of the court order. We are happy to staff cases with attorneys and provide a mental health perspective to assist in deciding the best route to go with a case.
Intake — We contact clients to set up intake sessions after confirming the case will be a good fit for our agency.
Case begins — We coordinate directly with you, the family, and the court as needed throughout.

FAQ for Attorneys & Courts

Do you accept court orders directly?
Yes. We accept court orders directly and reach out to clients to begin the process, which reduces the administrative burden on attorneys' offices. We contact families as needed throughout the case.

Do you provide written reports or documentation for the court?
We provide written reports on certain cases, depending on the terms of the court order.

Do you testify in court, if needed?
We generally try not to testify in court, as our goal is to reduce conflict for the families we work with rather than add to litigation.

How quickly can you begin working with a family after referral?
We have enough therapists to provide services to all family members and currently have immediate openings.

Do you work with cases outside Salt Lake County?
Yes. We work with cases in Salt Lake, Utah, and Davis counties.

How much do services costs and can they be billed to insurance?

Insurance does not cover some services, including reunification/family systems therapy, parent coordination, special masters services and coparenting therapy. Those services cost between $125-$200 per hour depending on the clinician and service.
Insurance covers individual therapy and we accept most insurances, including Medicaid, Cigna, Curative, Lyra, BCBS, Select Health, UMR, UHC, PEHP, EMI and Optum. We can also bill out of network for those insurances we are not contracted with.
